Is this the first true big shape up in South Africa? I think it certainly is except its not directly due to Seacom and cheaper costs but Afrihost subsidising the data cost from R57 per GB to R29 per GB…

A couple of guys have dropped their prices to around R50 per GB, I was using Axxess and still paying R59 per GB but now I can’t ignore the price cuts anymore so I’ve just signed up.

Afrihost say that this is a limited offer cause they are subsidising the price instead of running a big advertising campaign which makes sense to me, except that will anyone sign up once the cheap R29/GB deals are finished up? Cause thats sure where is pays off for them…

You can get 5GB’s at R145 which is more than half the price of what I was paying!
